Mr. Glass opened the first Farmers Home Furniture location in Soperton, Georgia in 1949 (seen in this photo) with $1,100 worth of used furniture. In 1952 the product line was broadened to include appliances and electronics. Today, we also carry outdoor furniture and equipment, children's products, and computer equipment.
Company expansion began in 1956 with the opening of a second store in Swainsboro, Georgia.
In 1972 the corporate headquarters moved to Dublin, Georgia where it remains today, along with the main distribution facilities for the company's chain of over 150 stores, with about 1,600 employees, in 5 southeastern states.
We are proud of our history and of the trust we have built with our customers, employees, and affiliates during that time.
